Hi everyone! For some of you it's been a long time since you signed up for updates on Metro Map Maker development, and I wanted to thank everyone for your patience.

Since my last update, I've been pretty busy in my personal life. Some highlights include:

  • I traveled to Japan (Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto; the metros were amazing and I had so much fun visiting) for a vacation and to run the Osaka marathon
  • I moved from Washington, DC to Paris
  • I started a software consultancy to supplement my income

As you might imagine, moving internationally takes many months of work and a lot of logistics, and that's left me with very little time for Metro Map Maker development.

Happily, I'm getting settled in Paris now, and enjoying a fully car-free life in the city (and of course lots of trips on the Metro!)

This means I also finally have a bit of free time, and am eager to begin work on all of your great suggestions on how to improve Metro Map Maker.

The first thing I'm planning to start on is fixing a problem introduced in v7.1 for Firefox users. I'll do a more in-depth post about that once the fix is out, but since v7.1 was released, Metro Map Maker has sometimes been very slow on Firefox (it's fine on other browsers), and I'd like to fix that.

After that, I'm planning on a series of smaller releases so you all don't have to wait that long for the next set of new features. Each release will be smaller than 7.1, but I think the tradeoff will be worth it. Now that I'm starting development again, you can expect regular updates and sneak previews as well.

Thanks again for your patience, and happy map making! I look forward to seeing what you all create.
