Happy new year from Metro Map Maker!
I started 2024 with an intention to build lots of new features for Metro Map Maker, and I'm proud of all the hard work I put in. I'm especially proud of:
- Adding new line and station styles so you can customize your maps. Washington DC's style is iconic, but being able to completely change the look of your map in just a few clicks is really fun.
- Making all (200,000 and counting) maps ever created browsable. This took a ton of work to generate print-quality images for every map.
And I'm so delighted by the response from the community! In 2024, visitors like you made 49,046 maps – the most maps in a single year since Metro Map Maker launched in 2017!
Since visitors like you make so many (134 on average!) maps every day, I never have enough time to see them all. I try, though, and like to add some of my favorites to the gallery and highlight some in the My Favorite Maps series.
Even if you don't see your map there, know that I'm always excited and impressed to see your maps. So if you've made a cool map, please send it to me – it makes my day to hear from visitors like you and to see your maps!
Speaking of cool maps, the Search by City page (added in v6.1) has become the 3rd most popular page. The search for that page is going to get better in v7.1, and I'm planning to make it even better in v7.2, too.
I'm also really curious to hear from you. What was your favorite new feature released in version 6/version 7? What do you think I should add next? Let me know!
