Sneak preview: Square Stripes line style
Version 7.1 will have lots of new line styles, one new station style, and a handful of new features designed to make it so much quicker and easier to make maps with Metro Map Maker.
Today's post is about a new line style I'm calling Square Stripes, which has a roughly an equal amount of color and negative space in its stripes. It's thinner than the Wide Stripes, but thicker than the Stripes line style:
These square stripes were inspired by, you guessed it, maps I saw in Transit Maps of the World of Ludwigshafen-Mannheim and Lille. I've noticed that the striped lines are often used to indicate that a line is an S-Bahn. The striped lines in these maps are similar to those seen in Athens or Cologne.
I've enjoyed this book so much, and it's given me so much inspiration for features to add to Metro Map Maker. I've wanted to add other features like end-of-line labels too, and being able to page through all of the metro maps in one place is really helpful for generating ideas.
Make sure you're subscribed to free email updates so you'll be the first to know when these new line styles are available.
In the near future, I'm planning to send a survey asking you what features you're most interested in, so make sure you're subscribed so you can tell me what you want to see in a future version of Metro Map Maker!
Until next time, happy map making!
